We are so excited to help you find the wedding dress of your dreams! At Sweetheart Bridal we are here to help you every step of the way but we also know that many of our brides like to be hands-on, which is why we'll let you look through all the dresses and select the ones you want to try on! (We're happy to offer suggestions of course!) Many of our dresses are (LDS) Temple ready, which means you can save on your dress budget and know what to expect while needing less alterations. We also carry a few contemporary lines for our brides who don't want a more modest dress.
You are more than welcome to bring whomever you'd like to your appointment. However, larger groups can be hard to handle and too many opinions can get confusing for a bride. For this reason, we suggest you bring 2-3 of the people closest to you whose opinion you value most. We are happy to accommodate larger groups, but prefer to do this before or after hours so your group can have enough space to enjoy the experience. We stock dresses up to a size 24, which means that if you find a dress you love on your first visit you can take it home with you that day! This is ideal for our brides with shorter engagements, who do not have 12-20 weeks to wait for a dress order to come in. Keep in mind that if you are planning on taking bridal pictures before the wedding-that is your 1st wear date and you should plan to have your dress finished with any alterations 2-3 weeks before that date. If you have time to order a dress we are happy to discuss options for you at your appointment.
What should you bring to your appointment? We suggest that you bring the shoes that you are planning on wearing for your wedding (if you already have them) and make sure to wear a good bra and appropriate undergarments. This will help you know exactly how the dress will look on you and give you a better idea of what alterations you might need. We do offer shapewear for our brides to try on with dresses as well as for purchase.
Expect to need some alterations. It is very rare for a dress to fit perfectly on every bride. While we don't offer in-house alterations we do have several talented seamstresses that we refer our brides to. This is great because they can accommodate your busy schedule. Our staff is very knowledgeable about our dresses and what alterations can be done on them and we can give you an estimate on what your alterations could be.
One of the questions brides ask us the most is about getting extra fabric so they can customize their sleeves. We have many gorgeous gowns with longer sleeves, but if you need fabric for longer sleeves or any other custom alterations we can discuss with you the options for getting in extra fabric. Keep in mind that what will be available will depend on each dress and each designer.
