Meet our Bride Morgan

Wedding 2

When our bride, Morgan, came into our Provo store looking for a wedding dress she knew she wanted something that would show off her cowboy boots. After she picked one of our favorite lace top chiffon gowns we spoke with our designer and we were able to order her dress a little customized with a high-low skirt. This dress was absolutely perfect and here’s what Morgan had to say about her dress. “To the whole AMAZING team at Sweetheart Bridal–I cannot tell you how much I LOVED LOVED LOVED my dress! I truly felt transformed, and it made my day so special. Thank you for all your advice while I was choosing between dresses, and especially for the custom alterations—the high-low cut was completely unique and turned out PERFECT. Want proof? Here ya go. I’ve bragged about you to everyone who asked where I got my dress, and will continue to do so for years and years to come. Thank you for being so awesome!” Congratulations Morgan-you look amazing in your dress and we love the cowboy boot touch!

How did you and your husband meet?

We lived in the same apartment complex, and the group of girls I was friends with decided we should all pull him out of his shell. Luckily for us, he was a good sport about the whole thing.

What was your favorite date together?

We had very low-key dates for the most part, which I adored. We did get to go up to SLC and see Wicked once, which was amazing and probably my favorite.

How did he propose?

He surprised me by leaving a little wooden treasure chest on my desk, and then hid in his car. I opened the box, stared at the ring inside for a good minute, and ran out to demand what this was and what it meant. We had a good laugh after that.

How long was your engagement and how did you handle the stress of planning a wedding?

We had a fairly short engagement–we got engaged in early February and married in May. I had a lot of support from both our families when planning our wedding, which I am eternally grateful for, and David made sure that I took time-outs from planning when he could see me getting stressed.

What are your favorite details about your wedding day?

I loved having our friends and family there, but mostly just getting to spend the day with David was probably what meant the most to me. I was giddy all day long, just thinking about how this was real and he was mine all mine.

What did you love most about your wedding dress?

Oh my dress! I loved every bit of it–the lace sleeves, the little bit of frill on the hem, and most of all, the asymmetrical cut on the skirt of my dress. The designer did that custom for me, and it was even better than I could have ever imagined.

What advice would you give to other brides?

Elope! (Just kidding. Ha ha!) Don’t focus on all the little details on your big day. Focus on standing there with the love of your life, as well as those who love the two of you, and enjoy the moment. It goes by a lot faster than you think.

What is the best part about being married?

I love having someone to share all my crazy ideas with, and having a “partner in crime” to pull some of them off with! I love having someone to listen to as well as someone who will listen to me. I love being able to work together as a team to figure out tricky situations. Knowing that he doesn’t expect me to be perfect on my own, but that we can work towards that together–that’s what I love most about being married.

Meet Our Bride Sarah

Sarah and Alex-162

I don’t think we can express how much we LOVE when brides customize our dresses! Sarah took a gorgeous lace gown that we had in our store and totally re-created it with a few simple alterations. She added longer, lace sleeves, changed the square neckline to a sweetheart and added a colored sash in the perfect cranberry color. We even had the pleasure of outfitting her groom through DC Tuxedos. He picked a dark grey tuxedo with matching vest and a cranberry bow tie for the perfect color pop. You can definitely see how much personality these two have in their pictures!

Bride and Grooms names: Sarah & Alex Baird

Wedding Date: April 27th 2013

How did you and your husband meet?

Alex and I met at his sister’s wedding, I had roomed with her for 3 months when I moved to Provo from Australia. Alex had been in California doing summer sales. He came home for the wedding we met and he asked me to dance.

What was your favorite date together?

My favorite date, probably the third date, the first time we kissed we went jeeping up Hobble Creek Canyon, packed a picnic and hit golf balls off the mountain, we also kissed on top of the mountain, very romantic.

How did he propose?

He proposed the cutest way. He was not planning on proposing that day. We had just had the perfect day together of hanging out. We had tried to go tubing, and the tube popped the first run down the hill, we went to Costco to try and buy another one and ended up spending an hour and a half eating all their samples instead. We then went to kmart, but ended up just playing in the kids toy section for ages. It was new years eve and we ditched our friends and hung out at home after a long day playing around, we were wearing onesies and just talking about our relationship and he ended up proposing right there!

How long was your engagement and how did you handle the stress of planning a wedding?

We were engaged for four months. Honestly for me planning the wedding wasn’t stressful because my parents were in Australia so I could pick everything that I wanted and didn’t have to discuss it a great deal and worry about pleasing my family (that probably sounds awful but it honestly did help). I also had a pretty easy going job at the time and did a lot of research for wedding stuff while at work so that when I left I could investigate right away what I wanted.

What are your favorite details about your wedding day?

I loved our cake by granite bakery, and our guests presents were a box of Australian candy and chocolates which I thought was  a cool touch. We also had a great entrance, we did not do a procession line. So we entered to the song bad to the bone while wearing sunglasses and walking with swagger.

Our first dance was to let’s get it on by Marvin Gaye. And to get the dancing started for the evening all my Australian friends and family got up and did an Australian line dance which everyone else picked up pretty quickly and joined it.

There’s too many I could go on!

What did you love most about your wedding dress?

I did a few minor alterations to give it a sweetheart neckline and added longer lace sleeves. The beading was so intricate on my dress and it had a great criss cross corset type style in the back.

What advice would you give to other brides?

Something, even if it’s small will go wrong on the day and you just have to try and not worry about it and just enjoy the fact you just married your best friend.

What is the best part about being married?

Having your best friend with you all the time. Laughing with each other and just being able to be yourself.

Joseph Smith Building was where our reception was and they provided the food and flowers. They were great!
Eli Fillmore was our DJ and I would recommend him to anyone that’s seriously looking for a good DJ. is his website.
Granite bakery was our cake maker we loved the cake, the look and have bought other cakes from them since. They were  a preferred vendor of JSMB so they delivered the cake for free and there was no cake cutting fee.
The photographer was a friend from Australia, she was great! is her website however I’m not sure she’s really available living in australia 🙂

LDS Olympian Faced with Modesty Dilemma at Photo Shoot

I love this story about Noelle Pikus Pace, the USA skeleton racer, and Olympic silver medalist. She was asked to wear something that wasn’t very modest for a photo shoot and she stood up for what she believed in. Here is one of my favorite excerpts from her story:

“When it came down to it, though, wearing the dress or not was a very easy decision for me to make, because I had already chosen to stand as a witness of God “at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9).

I had decided a long time ago that I wouldn’t let the vision and expectations of the world determine who I am or what I stand for. What I wear is one symbol of who I am and how I feel about myself. I handed the dress back to Diane and told her, “I want to be modest. It’s just who I am, and I am sorry but I can’t wear this.” I expected her to roll her eyes and try to convince me to wear it, but she surprised me.

“Oh, sweetie, I’m a good Christian girl and completely understand and respect your beliefs. Let’s find you something else to wear.” I was shocked and elated by her understanding and support of my decision.”

Noelle is such a great example of making the decision the dress modestly before ever being encountered with the question of whether she’ll be modest or not. To read her complete story visit

What Boys Really Think

Have you seen this video? These high-school aged boys were interviewed and asked about what they think makes a girl attractive, what makes for a perfect date, and what they’re looking for in their future. I love how sincere they all are in their answers. This is a great video to illustrate that boys prefer girls who are modest in dress and comfortable with who they are and the standards they can share.

This is my favorite quote from the post before the video:

“I think all girls, no matter their religious preference, they want to be noticed, they want to have confidence and beauty,” Griffin said. “The world tells a completly different story. But if you find beauty in the right source and look to God for confidence, you can be happy. I think all girls could benefit from that message.”

Meet our Bride Kaitlyn

We absolutely love when our brides take one of our dresses and really make it their own. Let us introduce you to our bride Kaitlyn. She came shopping with her sister who was also getting married, which was double the fun! We loved getting to know these girls and helping them try on dresses. Kaitlyn ended up picking a dress from one of our favorite collections and customizing it! She changed the neckline to a v-neck and added extra lace to the hem of the dress. Her shoes were just phenomenal and she picked the perfect fingertip lace edge veil to compliment her dress.  Here’s a little bit more about Kaitlyn.

Bride and Grooms names: Douglas and Kaitlyn Springer

Wedding Date: April 21, 2015

How did you and your husband meet?

We met on “Tinder” it’s a dating app you download on your phone connected with Facebook

What was your favorite date together?

There are so many dates I don’t think I could name a favorite. One of them was going to frightmare lagoon! Another date that I loved was more of a service type date, but we went to McDonald’s and bought a ton of hamburgers and gave a few homeless people (downtown) food so they would go hungry for the night.

How did he propose?

He proposed skydiving! We both went up in the air at the same time, but he had arranged with the company before hand to jump off the plane first 5 min before I jumped so we was already down at the bottom waiting for me to land so he could pop the question! I had absolutely no idea he was going to propose! I was shocked, on top of I already had so much adrenaline going through me from skydiving!

How long was your engagement and how did you handle the stress of planning a wedding?

We were engaged for 8 months! The wedding planning was stressful, but my mother pretty much did most of the planning! I live in salt lake, my mom lives in Orem so it was hard to get together all the time to plan, so I just put it in her hands and let her do her thing. My wedding turned out absolutely beautiful! It was the most special/amazing day and was more than I had hoped for! Thanks to my mom, she deserves 100% of the credit!

What are your favorite details about your wedding day?

I loved my cake, the little decorations throughout the reception room…. But most of all I LOVED my dress! I felt like a princess all day, and never wanted that day to end because that meant I couldn’t wear my dress anymore!

What did you love most about your wedding dress?

I loved every detail of my dress! I honestly can’t say there is something that I loved most about my dress. The lace, the color, the flow, just everything on the dress is beautiful! I loved every inch of it!

What advice would you give to other brides?

Don’t be so picky and worry about whether or not everything is going to be perfect on your wedding day. No one will remember, and it’s about you and your love. That’s all that really matters. There were a few things that didn’t go as planned for me but I didn’t care one bit because it was MY special day, and I wasn’t going to let anything ruin it.

What is the best part about being married?

I get to have sleepovers every night with my BEST FRIEND!

Ps. I had so many compliments on my dress! I’ve told and sent so many people to sweetheart bridal! Chad was so helpful from day one, and even though there were a few hiccups along the way he was always so kind and wanted to make sure my dress turned out the way I wanted. My dress turned out absolutely perfect, and I couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect dress! Thank you so much again sweetheart bridal?
